Benjamin Gordon (born 5 October 1986), known professionally as Benji Boko, is an English DJ and producer known for his unique live remixes and highly energetic shows. Originally from Brighton, Benji Boko has been building popularity and a global fan base over the past few years. Playing shows all around the country, and most notably playing the midnight slot at the O2 Arena's New Year's Eve party in 2010.
==Early life and career==
Benji grew up in Brighton, East Sussex, where he continues to live. He first started to get interested in remixing from a young age when he used to store TV theme tunes on his computer and tried to mix them into each other. It was when he heard DJ Yoda for the first time that he realised that someone else was doing the same thing which convinced him to continue to explore and improve his style of mixing. When he was 18, Benji bought his first turntables and began to enhance his live mixing skills at friend's house parties in Brighton and eventually hassling clubs and promoters to allow him to play.
In 2008 Benji Boko moved to Leeds to attend Leeds College of Music where he continued to experiment with live mixing. He managed to get a regular DJ slot at HIFI, a club in Leeds, which is popular with students in the area. He played there for three years where he continued to experiment and improve his live mixing ability.〔 In 2011 he graduated from Leeds College of Music and returned to his home city of Brighton and Hove where he used what he learnt in his three years in Leeds and continued to DJ playing at some of Brighton's big venues such as Coalition.
Late 2010 saw Benji Boko sign to the independent Brighton based label Tru-Thoughts. After being signed to Tru-Thoughts, Benji Boko played a midnight slot to 17,000 people at the London O2 Arena for a new years party. Here he played alongside Deadmau5, Justice and Calvin Harris. This performance grabbed the attention of top Radio DJs such as Zane Lowe and Rob da Bank from BBC Radio 1 who were quoted as saying "What Benji does Live is really unique".
